In 2019, my life took an unexpected turn. After being involved in a life-changing accident, I had to leave my corporate job and reevaluate the direction I wanted my career to take. That’s when I, Kim Curlin, felt a deep desire to enter the travel industry, which had always sparked my passion.
I began working with a travel agency where I was fortunate enough to learn a lot about Disney Destinations and Royal Caribbean cruises. During this time, I also had the opportunity to go on a FAM trip, which stands for Familiarization trip. These trips allow travel professionals to experience destinations firsthand so they can better plan for and assist clients. My FAM trip took me to Universal Resorts Studios in Orlando, Florida, and it was during this experience that I realized I wanted to take my career to the next level and build my own business.
And so, Starlight2Travel was born. Over the past five years, I have built this business from the ground up, dedicating myself to learning as much as I could about the travel industry. With my host agency, I attended in-person training events called Boot Camp 1.0 and 2.0, dozens of trade shows, and more FAM trips. I’ve attended hundreds of webinars and online courses with travel suppliers and partners to ensure I could offer my clients the very best.
Beyond education, I focused on building a strong brand, creating essential travel tools, and launching a website. From there, I expanded by building a team that shares my dedication to offering unforgettable travel experiences. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’ve worked hard to be the best travel planner and manager I can be.
Today, as we celebrate five years, I reflect on all the milestones that have brought Starlight2Travel to where it is now, and I look forward to continuing this journey—helping others make their travel dreams come true.
